Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 29, 2026

Everything you make in Daub stays with you: on your iPhone and, if you keep iCloud backup on, in your own private iCloud storage, which we cannot see. The only information that goes to anyone else is what is needed to process and restore a purchase.

What Daub keeps

The following are stored in the app's private storage on your iPhone:

The home-screen widget reads today's prompt and your recent colors from the same storage on your iPhone.

We never receive any of this, and we cannot see it.

iCloud backup

Daub can back up your book (your colors, their names, your paint palette and settings) and the photos saved with them to your own iCloud account, in Daub's private area of Apple's iCloud (CloudKit private database). This backup is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Daub's Settings.

Only you can read this backup. It is stored and protected by Apple under your Apple Account, and we, the developer of Daub, cannot access it. It uses your own iCloud storage. When you reinstall Daub, or use it on another iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account, Daub offers to bring your book back from it.

Purchases are never included in the backup; Pro is restored from the App Store. Videos from video cards are not uploaded either. You can delete Daub's backup from your iPhone's iCloud storage settings. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Separately, you can make a backup file of your book from Daub's Settings. That file is saved only where you choose to save it, for example in the Files app or iCloud Drive.

If you turn iCloud backup off and delete the app, everything Daub kept on your iPhone is removed.

Photos

Daub asks for permission to use your camera and photo library so you can pick a color from a picture. Images are read on your device to sample color values. They are not analyzed on a server or shared, and the only place photos are uploaded is your own iCloud backup described above. The live camera view may ask for microphone permission because of how the iOS camera works; Daub does not record audio. You can withdraw this permission at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Purchases

Daub offers an optional paid upgrade. Payment is taken by Apple through the App Store, and Daub never sees or stores your payment details.

To unlock Pro on your device, and to restore it when you reinstall Daub or sign in on another device, Daub uses RevenueCat, a purchase management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID created by the app, a device identifier, and the status of your purchase. It does not receive your name, your email address, your photos, or anything you make in Daub. Apart from your own iCloud backup, this is the only connection Daub makes to a server.

Apple's handling of purchase data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy, and RevenueCat's by RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

No tracking, no analytics, no ads

Daub contains no advertising, no advertising identifiers, and no analytics that follow what you do in the app. It does not build a profile of you, and it does not sell or share your data with other companies. RevenueCat, described above, is the only third party that receives anything from Daub, and only for purchases.

Children

Daub is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

The only record connected to you that we or any other company can see is the purchase record described above, held under an anonymous ID. Write to us and we will have it deleted. Everything else lives on your iPhone and in your own iCloud backup: you control both directly, and you can delete them at any time as described above.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Daub handles data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
